Improving Measures for Applications

Improving Measures for Applications

Today, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship has announced new measures that will help reduce wait times, improve client experience, and help modernize Canada’s immigration system. These measures build on the work already done to reduce wait times, including hiring 500 new processing staff and digitizing applications.

These new measures include:

  • Return to service standards by the end of the year for study permits, work permits, and permanent residence card renewals
  • Expand online applications for permanent residence applications
  • Create a permanent resident tracker for spousal sponsorship applications
  • Update our online processing times tool in the coming months to give up-to-date estimates of how long it will take to process applications
