Effective November 8, 2024 Mandatory to apply for Study Permit for new school change

Your old school will report you as not being registered or enrolled to study. If this happens:

• you’re breaking the conditions of your study permit
• your study permit may become invalid unless you are in one of the situations noted above
• you may have your study permit cancelled
• you may be asked to leave the country or change your status
• this may prevent you from coming to Canada in the future
  • For example, you may not be approved for another study or work permit in the future.
• In addition, if you are in a co-op program and are changing to a co-op program at a different school, you must apply for a new co-op work permit.

Upcoming Fee Increases for Certain Applications – Effective December 1, 2024

If you’re planning to restore your immigration status or apply for certain inadmissibility-related permits, take note of these upcoming changes. Starting December 1, 2024, the following fees will increase:

• Restoration of Temporary Resident Status (for visitors, students, and workers)
• Authorization to Return to Canada
• Criminal Rehabilitation (including for serious criminality)
• Temporary Resident Permit

Key Reminder:
Foreign nationals have 90 days from the date they lose their temporary resident status to apply for restoration.
