Additional Open Work Permit for Hong Kong Pathway Applicants


Due to a high volume of Hong Kong Pathway applications, some applicants may have their temporary status expire before obtaining permanent residency. To address this, Canada will launch a new policy in the coming weeks, allowing eligible applicants to extend their stay and receive a new open work permit while their permanent residency applications are processed.

The new public policy will remain in place for 5 years so that applicants can extend their temporary status in Canada while the processing of their permanent residence application continues.
